Notes - Alice Marie Peterson was born in 1875. She married Jacob Beni, who was born in Germany, on Sept. 15, 1891, in Riverhead. He owned or worked in a barber shop in Riverhead. On Aug. 6, 1892, Alice gave birth to my grandmother Edoth Caroline (in later years, my grandmother changed it to Edith.) After my grandmother was born, Jacob left and was not heard from again. Alice died in 1916. However there is no death certificate for Jacob. We have no idea what happened to him.
